Dun-dun devlog: small fixes
Welcome back to another devlog!
Wait, already? Yeah, but no new boss this time. If you remember, in our last devlog I said we were aware of some issues present in version 0.3.0a of the game, which we were working to fix. Well, this update brings just that: fixes for those issues. No new content has been added to the game.
Here's a rough list of what's changed:
- Ongard's music was starting as soon as the battle was initiated, then restarted when the spawn animation finished. Now the music only starts when the boss finishes spawning.
- Also in Ongard's arena, crystals could spawn directly above or very near to the player, which wasn't intended, to keep you moving and weaving between the boss' attacks. This has been fixed, but the inner workings of the logic used to decide where crystals can spawn for that area have been changed, so it won't work the same way it did before. I may tweak it in the future based on feedback and my own playtesting.
- Parkov had visibility problems when playing multiplayer. This has been aliviated by giving the player sprites a white outline, so they contrast more against the black background.
- Parkov's phone controls also caused lots of misinputs, making the player go in unintended directions. This has also been aliviated and misinputs should now be at least more uncommon. This may also be tweaked further if it ends up not being enough.
- Lastly, Parkov's normal mode third phase (the one where bishops first spawn) was a little bit too much and has been heavily nerfed.
- THE MATHMAGICIAN also had visibility issues. The math problem now appears on the center of the screen. Also, the crystals have been moved to the outer parts of the arena to prevent grabbing one of them by mistake on the way to grabbing a different one
And that should be all. Please give the update a try and tell us what you think about the changes, especially if they weren't enough or if you still experience any problems!
