Alpha launched

The first alpha of Dun-dun, which contains a single boss with three difficulty levels and multiple challenge modes, has launched! If you are interested in checking out the game's code, you can do that here

It took us (well, it took me, as it was mostly my fault) a lot more time than I'd have liked and it's not really much, but we can finally get some feedback and see if we actually did a good job. There's not much more to say about it really, just remember to read the game's page if you are checking it out to learn about the mechanics and controls, as there's currently no tutorials or explanations in the actual game. And please tell us what you think if you do! We're in dire need of feedback!

I'll take this opportunity to provide a rough roadmap of what we have planned for the future of the game. As you can expect, most of this list are ideas we'd love to implement, but as a group of three people with no previous experience and (at least in my case) no clue what we are doing, none of them are final and any could be dropped for a variety of reasons. With that in mind:

  • More bosses, but you probably already guessed that. So I'll list here a few of the ideas we have for them right now:
    1. A chess-based boss
    2. A mimic-like boss
    3. A maths questions boss (I promise I'll make it fun somehow)
    4. A boss that's two enemies at once
    5. A music-based boss (probably a dj of some kind because... well, you know)
  • Drop the difficulty selection at the start of the game. When this is done, you'll fight the "normal" version of the boss the first time you encounter it. If you defeat it, it'll escape and you'll be able to fight it again as the "hard" version if you look for it in the dungeon. If you don't deal damage to the normal version, it'll get mad and you'll fight the "hardest" version (that's why in that version you don't actually attack the boss, but instead you wait for it to get tired).
  • Multiplayer mode. It'll be a small "for fun" mode to play around with your friends, as I'm expecting it won't be very balanced, but if I implement it you'll be able to fight every boss we make at every possible difficulty and with any additional challenges that are avaliable.

And I think that's it. I'll try to make a log like this once every month and for each update we have. I expect the time between updates will be very long, so the monthly post will serve to keep any of you that are interested updated on the current state of the game and what we're working on.
